Body Reset Diet

What is Body Reset Diet?

The Body Reset Diet is a low-calorie, 15-day diet created by celebrity fitness trainer Harley Pasternak, who co-hosted ABC’s daytime talk show “The Revolution” in 2012 and has worked with celebrities including Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow, Adam Levine, Megan Fox, Rihanna, Kanye West, Bono and Katy Perry.

The plan is broken into three, five-day phases and mostly involves drinking smoothies before incorporating solid food back in your diet. During phase one, for example, you only drink smoothies for your meals – white smoothies for breakfast, red for lunch and green for dinner. White smoothies contain milk or Greek yogurt, a good source of protein. Red smoothies are full of fruits to give you a burst of energy and green smoothies are comprised of vegetables to keep you full at night. During phase two, you drink two smoothies per day and replace one meal with solid food, such as a salad, sandwich or stir-fry. Phase three swaps out one of those two smoothies for another solid meal.

The idea is that eating a low-calorie plant-based diet made up mostly of smoothies over the course of 15 days, you can train your body to use energy more efficiently and burn calories faster, even while you’re asleep. Combine this with resistance exercise three days per week, and you’ll set yourself up for long-term, sustained weight loss.

Pros & Cons

  • Short-term program
  • Should see results quickly
  • Smoothies could get boring
  • Weight loss may not last

How does Body Reset Diet work?

There is no “easing in” to The Body Reset Diet. Your first five days on the plan will ask you to:

  • Replace your breakfast, lunch and dinner with white, red and green smoothies, respectively.
  • Eat two 150- to 200-calorie crunchy snacks a day, like a quarter cup of edamame.
  • Walk at least 10,000 steps daily.
  • Add at least five minutes of resistance training – like a circuit including 20 reverse flies, dips, planks and hamstring curls – to your schedule at least five days a week.
